Energy Management Seminar

EMA offers an intensive one-and-a-half day seminar to help candidates better understand energy management. The seminar has been revised to reflect the content outline established by the U.S. Department of Energy for the energy management profession. While not required for certification, the seminar serves as final preparation for those taking the EMP Certification Exam.


EMP certification is available to industry professionals who are responsible for managing and continually improving energy performance in commercial buildings. The scope of the EMP program is aligned with the Energy Management Professional consensus qualifications guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Implement energy efficient projects

Manage energy communications

Steps to becoming EMP Certified

Review the EMP Candidate Handbook for information regarding the EMP certification program, including details about how to prepare for the examination.

Complete an EMP Application.

Register for the EMP Examination. The next Exam will be administered at 1:00 PM, on April 25th, immediately following the seminar held April 24-25, 2017. The seminar and exam are being held in Orlando, Florida, in conjunction with CxEnergy 2017 (Register online for EMP Seminar & Exam, Validation Exam and/or other CxEnergy events)

Take and pass the EMP Exam.
